Vaani Kapoor is poised to star in the next Netflix series, Mandala Murders, after working in Hindi film for about ten years. The choosy actress admitted she had been hoping for a major part to mark her streaming debut.

Vaani Kapoor appreciates playing a part that breaks down barriers.

Kapoor informed Mid Day that she wanted to do something unique in honor of her streaming premiere. The actor is thankful for finding Mandala Murders, a thrilling thriller that pushes her both mentally and physically. Kapoor has been compelled by this risk to face her anxieties and express her true self.

The series, which features Kapoor as Rhea Thomas, a police officer tasked with solving a series of murders in the fictional metropolis of Charandaspur, was written and directed by Gopi Puthran, who is well-known for Mardaani 2. The program is co-directed by Manan Rawat and includes Shriya Pilgaonkar, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Surveen Chawla. By combining crime thriller elements with mythological motifs, Yash Raj Films' Mandala Murders gives Kapoor new narrative ground to explore.

Vaani Kapoor changes direction

Kapoor's foray into OTT has been enjoyable and thrilling, considering that her acting career has primarily been in romantic comedies and glamorous supporting roles. "A new wave of female performers is taking on adrenaline-charged roles, demonstrating that raw power and intense emotion can coexist on screen," she said. Indian actresses have finally taken the helm of the action genre, which is long overdue. A fair bit of grit and activity that is empowering for an actor.

Kapoor has already discussed how the OTT sector is revolutionizing the business for women, and the program is scheduled to begin streaming on July 25. "I love streaming because an actress gets meatier projects and roles to show her craft on screen, which is often limited when it comes to theatrical movies, as they are mostly centered on our male actors," she explains.

Amid turmoil, the release of Abir Gulaal has been postponed.

At the same time, the release date for Kapoor's romance drama Abir Gulaal, which also starred Aarti S. Bagdi, has not yet been determined. The movie, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, was initially scheduled for release in May. Its release was, however, canceled as a result of the terrorist assault in Pahalgam on April 22.

With Mandala Murders, which will focus on her work outside the mainstream film industry, Kapoor hopes to change the narrative arc of her career.
