There is no question that Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is the major theatrical debut this week. The movie is a remake of the Spanish film Campeone, which also has a Hollywood version called Champions, with Woody Harrelson in the lead role. It remains to be seen whether Aamir can draw audiences to theaters with this underdog story. The sports comedy drama will only be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. So, what does that mean for Kannada viewers this week?

Indeed, there are a lot of feature films that are primarily directed by newcomers and have received little to no advertising prior to their release. Currently, there is one confirmed dubbed title in Kannada on OTT, one of which had a decent theatrical run and the other is the second season of a successful thriller series. However, it is a remake; there are at least two dubbed titles.

Karki

Directed by Tamil filmmaker Pavithran in his Sandalwood debut, Karki is the Kannada version of Pa.Ranjith's 2018 film Pariyerum Perumal. The film, which addresses caste oppression and related violence, was directed by Jai Prakash Reddy and Meenakshi Dinesh, with Love Fame in mind. Nine months after its release in theaters, the movie will go to OTT.

In Binto Stephen's debut film, which stars Dileep as the lead, a middle-aged single man's attempts to find a suitable partner through a matchmaking website are thrown into chaos when he is paired with a social media influencer. Siddique, Bindu Panicker, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and others also appear in the movie. The original Malayalam movie will be offered with a Kannada audio choice.

Kerala Crime Files Season 2

Kerala Crime Files Season 2, the second season of Ahammed Khabeer's Malayalam original police procedural web series, reintroduces Aju Varghese, Lal, Navas Vallikkunu, and Sanju Sanichen as police officers, while Arjun Radhakrishnan of the Kannur Squad joins the cast as SI Noble.
