Mani Ratnam's 2025 Tamil film, Thug Life, which stars actor-politician Kamal Haasan in the title role, has at last made its way into cinemas. Although the Kamal Haasan film hasn't made as much money as Indian 2 and Vikram's debut collections, the figures are promising since Thug Life was outlawed in Karnataka.

The movie was outlawed in Karnataka after the star of Papanasam refused to say sorry for asserting that Tamil gave birth to Kannada. Because the state has a target audience for Tamil movies, this has had an impact on the entire Thug Life series on its first day. Said that, though, there may be a rise in attendance for Thug Life over the weekend. Thug Life is behind Indian 2 and Vikram, who earned Rs 25 crore and Rs 32 crore on the first day, respectively, with Rs 17 crore.
