The Soulful Beginning: Mohanlal’s Vrusshabha Kicks Off Musical Journey with Emotional Father-Son Track ‘Appa’
3 hours ago | 5 Views
The promotional campaign for the highly anticipated pan-Indian cinematic event, Mohanlal’s Vrusshabha, has officially commenced with the launch of its first song, “Appa”. Unveiled by the makers, the track is positioned as the very soul of the film, immediately setting a deeply emotional and powerful tone for the rural action entertainer. The song beautifully captures the universal and timeless bond between a father and son, a relationship that forms the core emotional narrative of the film.
A Universal Emotion: Language and Lyrics
To honor the film's pan-Indian scope, the song "Appa" has been meticulously crafted in four major South Indian languages and Hindi. Composer Sam CS created the moving melody, featuring soulful vocals by Vijai Prakash in Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu, and Madhu Balakrishnan lending his voice to the Malayalam version.
The lyrics were penned by different writers for each language—Vinayak Shashikumar (Malayalam), Kalyan Chakravarthy Tripuraneni (Telugu), Kartik Kush (Hindi), and Nagarjun Sharma (Kannada). Despite the linguistic diversity, each version maintains a shared emotional essence, resonating with the theme of paternal love and legacy. With the music rights acquired by T-Series, the film's road to its worldwide Christmas release on December 25, 2025, has begun on this heartfelt note.
Director Nanda Kishore: The Heartbeat of the Story
Director Nanda Kishore explained the decision to launch the campaign with this particular track, emphasizing its narrative significance. “We wanted to begin the musical journey of Vrusshabha with ‘Appa’ because the entire film is rooted in the powerful, emotional relationship between a father and son,” he shared.
He believes the song perfectly reflects the "heartbeat of the story" and gives the audience an authentic sense of the film’s core values. Kishore added that stories about fathers are often left untold and that this particular tale deserved to be heard and felt. He expressed gratitude to Sam CS for bringing such emotional depth to the track, stating, “This is just the beginning, as more music and moments unfold, people will understand the soul of this film even more.”
Sam CS: Composing With Depth and Honesty
Music Director Sam CS echoed the director’s sentiments about the personal nature of the composition. “‘Appa’ didn’t feel like composing a song; it felt like touching something personal and familiar,” he remarked. He highlighted the added responsibility that came with having a legend like Mohanlal at the center of the emotional narrative, whose presence, he noted, brings a certain "depth, a weight that you can feel even while creating the music."
Sam CS ensured the track remained "very honest" to the story's emotional requirement. He hopes the audience will feel the same warmth and truth of the father-son bond that he followed while composing the music.
The bilingual film, shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu, and dubbed in Hindi and Kannada, promises a grand cinematic experience, supported by powerful action choreography from Peter Hein and Stunt Silva, and sound design by Oscar winner Resul Pookutty. The launch of "Appa" sets a high benchmark for the upcoming release.
