Romantic comedy-drama Netflix will host a second season of The Royals. The series became an instant sensation around the world after its May 9, 2025, launch, trending in 58 different nations and being the first Indian program to ever break into Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows.

The Royals' concept and environment

Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy are the creators of The Royals, which is set in the fictional Rajasthani metropolis of Morpur. Pritish Nandy Communications created it. Bhumi Pednekar (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan) plays Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, an ambitious businesswoman who wants to establish a five-star hotel named "Royal B&B." Ishaan Khatter (Beyond the Clouds and Khaali Peeli) portrays Prince Aviraaj Singh, an ambivalent royal who unexpectedly inherits the burdensome estate from his family. Their collaboration leads to a web of romantic and humorous relationships.

Zeenat Aman plays the quirky royal grandma, Sakshi Tanwar plays Rani Padmaja, and Lisa Mishra, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, and Dino Morea complete the cast, with Vihaan Samat playing Aviraaj's brother Digvijay. The series, which took place in Jaipur and Mumbai, was directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana.

A mixed response from the critics

Despite the show's acclaimed opulent setting and star-studded cast, reviews were mixed. Critics have noted the main characters' lack of chemistry and the script's overly formulaic nature. However, the program was still popular enough to be renewed.

Rangita Pritish Nandy, the show's creator, showrunner, and producer, said that the first season of The Royals was their ode to the romantic comedy genre: palaces, polo games, fort-top frolics and raves, midnight masked parties—love at its most tumultuous and endearing—and they couldn't have been more thrilled for the upcoming season. It became popular throughout the world. All this implied was that the producers needed to come back for additional supplies. Their second season with Netflix will be even better than their first, according to Nandy, and they are eager to collaborate with them once more. There will be far more tension, heated arguments, and lively conversation. Despite their symbolic nature, the crowns are kingly in their universe.
