The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has insisted that the name Janaki be taken out of the title and film, resulting in a dispute between Janaki and the State of Kerala or JSK. However, the producers have rejected the alteration, and the whole Malayalam film industry has supported the movie, which stars actor-politician Suresh Gopi. The fact that Suresh Gopi, the star of the film, hasn't addressed the dispute in public—even with the support of the industry—has caused some people to raise an eyebrow. Film producer Suresh Kumar has now addressed the JSK controversy, and he has also explained why BJP leader Suresh Gopi has not yet spoken out on the matter.

The cause of Janaki row's lack of response from Suresh Gopi

The Malayalam movie Janaki v/s State of Kerala or JSK, which was scheduled for release on June 27, 2025. However, the CBFC refused certification, claiming that Janaki should be taken out because it is the name of a god. However, what is more striking is that Suresh Gopi, the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, has not yet addressed the subject.

Film producer Suresh Kumar has spoken about the issue in a report by the Malayalam news station 24, adding that Suresh Gopi also has "resentment" toward it. However, as a Union Minister of State, he has restrictions on how he can respond, Suresh Kumar said, adding that they have been bringing the matter to his attention.

He added that Malayalam film organizations such as AMMA and FEFKA have given Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw a memorandum, and that the minister has promised to investigate the issue.

An Indian High Court judge observes JSK

The film's production company, Cosmos Entertainments, and Pravin Narayanan, the director of JSK, have refused to comply, claiming that the name Janaki appears in the movie over ninety times. Over the dispute, they even contacted the Kerala High Court. In Kochi last week, Kerala High Court judge N Nagaresh saw JSK. Wednesday will see the case before the court once more.
