India has given James Gunn's most recent Superman film, which stars David Corenswet, a great debut. According to Sacnilk, the movie made Rs 25.5 crore during its opening weekend. It had a good start, generating Rs. 7 crore on the first day, and it kept up its performance for the next two days. Due to the film's greater popularity in major cities throughout the evening and at night, it made Rs 9 crore on Sunday.

One of the highest grossing films in Hollywood is Superman.

With a total occupancy rate of 33.04% on Day 3, the English version of the film saw its highest performance during nighttime screenings, at 44.69%. Superman ranks among the top Hollywood movies when it comes to India's opening weekends. It ranks third in India in 2025, behind Jurassic World: Rebirth and Mission: Impossible—Final Reckoning.

The film's presentation in high-end formats like IMAX and 4DX contributed to its success. The collections in big cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi were particularly strong, notably in multiplex chains. Of the most recent Hollywood films released in India, Superman did better than Brad Pitt's F1, Final Destination: Bloodlines, and Captain America: Brave New World.

Fresh perspective on the legendary superhero

David Corenswet plays Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult plays Lex Luthor in the movie's main roles. The supporting cast features Nathan Fillion, Milly Alcock, and Isabela Merced. Gunn's portrayal of the character in the past versions does not reiterate the genesis story. In contrast, Gunn's depiction follows a younger Superman as he deals with a new foe, navigates a public relations crisis, and struggles with his connection to Lois Lane.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved the film for release in India after it underwent several changes. These adjustments included, among other things, removing all examples of foul speech and cutting a 33-second kissing sequence between the key characters. To replace an eight-second section that included slang language, a calmer two-second replacement shot was also used. These alterations were primarily motivated by the film's appropriateness for Indian viewers. But netizens criticized CBFC from all sides on their social media accounts.

Due to good word-of-mouth and continued enthusiasm for the character, we expect Superman to continue to have excellent collections throughout the week.
