The trailer of Diljit Dosanjh's film Sardaarji 3, in which the actor and singer is seen romancing Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, was recently met with criticism. Despite his explanation that the movie was filmed prior to the Pahalgam assault, many of his followers are nonetheless let down by him. The movie's producer, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, spoke frankly in an interview with NDTV about the film's losses as a result of missing its debut in India and about social media trolling.

The response to the backlash against Sardaarji 3 is Gunbir Singh Sidhu

As a result of the increased tensions between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, Indian film groups have demanded that the picture be outlawed in the nation. In response to the outcry over the choice of Hania, producer Gunbir disclosed that the film was filmed in February in the United Kingdom, at a time when there were no such tensions between the two nations and no limitations imposed by the Indian government or any other authority. Additionally, he disclosed that they chose not to distribute the movie in India following the Pahalgam assault because they didn't want to offend anyone.

He went on to say that "I believe that they should not have made such statements" in response to Hania and Mahira's harsh condemnation of Operation Sindoor on social media. I can't say any more than that, though. But I would argue that these things shouldn't have occurred, and she struck below the belt.

Gunbir experiencing losses in Sardaarji 3

After skipping its India release, Gunbir continued by saying that the movie suffered a loss, adding, "My previous picture Jatt and Juliet 3, which starred Diljit and Neeru, was released last year. It was the first Punjabi film to generate ₹100 crores in revenue at the global box office. 60% of that came from business abroad, while 40% came from India. You assume that our business comes from India (400 million) and outside (600 million). When things are like this, it's obvious that 40% of our income has been lost.

Diljit Dosanjh stars in the third installment of the well-known Punjabi fantasy comedy series, Sardaarji 3. In the movie, he portrays an eccentric ghost hunter who, along with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir and Neeru Bajwa, tackles a new supernatural mystery in the UK. India did not see the movie's debut, but it was released worldwide on June 27.
