Samantha's latest film, Subham, had a very sluggish start at the box office. However, the movie became a respectable hit as favorable word of mouth circulated. Initially, Zee5 secured the digital rights, but they withdrew at the last moment because the film performed horribly in the first two days.

Samantha went to Jio Hotstar and closed the agreement for a low price since she had no other option. The most recent information is that Subham began streaming on Jio Hotstar on June 13, 2025. Directed by Praveen Kandregula of Mail fame, the movie is a horror comedy.

Subham is set in a small town and revolves around women getting possessed while watching a particular TV serial that airs daily at 9 PM. This concept is presented in a humorous manner by director Praveen Kandregula and has become the film’s major selling point.

Made on a budget of Rs 10 crore, the film collected nearly Rs 20 crore at the box office by the end of its run. There was significant buzz around the OTT release, as a section of the audience had missed watching it in theaters.

Featuring all newcomers in lead roles, the cast delivered solid performances, which became a major talking point. Subham was co-produced by Raj of Raj & DK fame, and he is reportedly set to produce more projects with Samantha in the near future.

Director Praveen Kandregula is now the man of the moment, as his upcoming film Paradha, starring Anupama Parameswaran, is gearing up for release. With Subham becoming a hit, the pre-release business for Paradha has seen a significant boost.
