Saiyara was nearly shelved by Mohit Suri

Without Ahaan and Aneet's intimidating performances, Suri couldn't have cast them in Saiyaara.

The director then went on to describe how his creative path shifted until a happy collaboration with YRF brought the initiative back to life. He was really thinking about directing something else until his path crossed with Yash Raj Films, which was looking for a young romance and developing Ahaan and Aneet for the part.

Debutants need to put on a strong performance
