Kireeti Reddy, the son of politician and businessman Gaali Janardhan Reddy, is making his film debut this week with the Kannada-Telugu bilingual Junior. The film, directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, has been marketed as a family entertainer that hinges on a father-son relationship. Crazy Star Ravichandran was roped in to play Kireeti’s father in the film. The veteran actor is quite impressed by Kireeti’s preparation for his debut.

Ravichandran: Kireeti is here to stay

Ravichandran says that he was pleasantly surprised seeing how responsible Kireeti was from day 1 of the shoot. “He came with a plan and was well trained. He would also learn his lines and rehearse a scene before coming to the set. Most importantly, Kireeti and director Radhakrishna, had an understanding between them, on account of having spent time together in putting this project together. From the effort that Kireeti put into this film, it was clear to me that his focus is on making a mark in cinema. He’s here to stay and hasn’t just made this film for fun,” the Crazy Star told Tv9 Kannada.

The central element of the story, according to Ravichandran, is the relationship between a father and his son. "For the same reason, I found this topic appealing. This is a story where, to the point that Abhi (Kireeti), the son, feels literally smothered and is seeking for a way out, I play the role of an overprotective father. However, the father is unaware that what he's doing is wrong. The plot is propelled forward by this love-hate bond between the father and son, which also serves as the tale's emotional backbone, according to him.

Ravichandran says that in the narration, he was drawn to Radhakrishna's statement that his character would be the one who keeps his son from living, which pushes him to stay away from his father. "In this pursuit of experiencing all that he's missed out on, there's a lot of emotional drama that plays out," says Ravichandran.
