Get ready for a desi twist on one of TV’s favorite detective shows. Ram Kapoor and Mona Singh are back together on screen in Mistry, the Indian remake of the Emmy-winning series Monk. It will stream only on JioHotstar starting June 27, 2025. The show gives a unique Indian touch to the police comedy-drama genre.
Ram Kapoor plays Armaan Mistry, a quirky detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder. He’s India’s take on Adrian Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub in the original series that aired from 2002 to 2009. Mistry is a genius at solving crimes but his compulsions make him unpredictable. His odd habits sometimes get in his way, but they also help him crack tough cases. Mistry is a chaotic but brilliant detective who stands out in the crime-solving world.
Mona Singh, famous for her role in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, plays ACP Sehmat Siddiqui. She’s a strong, down-to-earth officer who works closely with Mistry. The cast also includes Shikha Talsania from Wake Up Sid and Kshitish Date from Mulshi Pattern. They bring a lively mix of characters to the story.
The teaser shared by JioHotstar shows Mistry as a wild, mysterious man. The caption says, “Chaotic to some. An enigma to all. When it comes to unsolved mysteries, no one better than Mistry!” Fans and followers of Kapoor and Singh are already excited.
Directed by Rishab Seth, Mistry is the first South Asian version of Monk. It’s part of a deal between Banijay Asia and NBCUniversal Formats. They want to bring popular global shows to Indian viewers. The new version keeps the heart of the original but adds Indian culture and stories.
With a funny detective, tricky cases, emotional moments, and humor, Mistry promises a mix of nostalgia and new fun. Mark your calendars — the mystery begins June 27 on JioHotstar.
