The tale of the 2018 crime drama Raid, which debuted on Netflix on June 26, 2025, is continued in Raj Kumar Gupta's Raid 2. Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Amay Patnaik, a sincere Indian Revenue Service official who battles corruption in a system that encourages it. This time, he confronts Riteish Deshmukh's legendary portrayal of the esteemed Dada Manohar Bhai, a far tougher opponent.

The foundation is laid by a raid that went horribly wrong

In 1989, in Rajasthan, the movie opens with a failed attack on the property of a former king. But the failed operation was just one component of a more extensive plan that Patnaik was developing. By being transferred to Bhoj, Dada Bhai's fortress, he accepts a bribe to get closer to his real goal.

Dada Bhai, a minister who used to be a shoemaker, has a lot of public backing and portrays himself as a very kind person. However, Patnaik believes his riches are not earned fairly. The stage is set for a battle of red tape, high-stakes deception, and political influence.

Something bigger is indicated by signs in Bhoj

Patnaik notices odd signs when he moves to Bhoj, such as unharvested fields, dubious assets, and a monument that appears to be made of pure gold. However, as he effectively raids Dada Bhai, it seems that everything is back to normal. Somehow, the original gold statue has been replaced by a bronze one, and no illegal money has been found.

Clearly, Dada Bhai is keeping a close eye on things. He even delivered the bribe that resulted in his relocation in a deliberate effort to monitor Patnaik's investigation. Following a failed raid, Dada Bhai fires Patnaik from his post and reduces him to living with his in-laws. But there's more to it than that.

Unearthing a dubious past

He starts looking into Dada Bhai's past and learns some crucial details about Neha Rathod, his deceased girlfriend. In her name, he acquired the land that is now home to a five-star hotel. As his inquiry proceeds, Patnaik identifies a trend: women were given government jobs in exchange for having their identities used in illegal property transactions, and he was also accused of sexual abuse.

In order to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) case against Dada Bhai, Patnaik partners up with his boss and the shady lawyer Yashpal Sharma. Dada Bhai seems to have been bribed into silence up until the court session, when the attorney plays the audio of the bribe offer, bringing it out into the 

The inside man exposed

Lallan Sudhir, a new income tax officer who moves to Bhoj, is played by Amit Sial. Despite being initially portrayed as corrupt, it is later revealed that he is actually participating in Patnaik's scheme. When Lallan obtains new intelligence from an informant in the local office, he organizes a successful raid on the hotel constructed on Neha's property.

The cops discover a massive stash of illegal money and valuable metals there, such as gold taps and laundry rooms packed with cash. Vinay (Brijendra Kala), a civil servant who had helped Patnaik, was tortured by Dada Bhai's men, but they were able to save him..

There is chaos

Dada Bhai led a mob into the hotel after going to court in Bhoj to have the protection order lifted. The income tax inspectors, who were outnumbered, tossed bundles of money out the window in an effort to pull off a daring move. The audience loses its cool and ceases to back Dada Bhai.

Nevertheless, the story gets complicated when Vaani Kapoor's character, Malini, learns about her son Dada Bhai's misdeeds, and Supriya Pathak, who is Dada Bhai's mother, gets involved. After his mother strikes him in front of the crowd, Malini makes a public accusation against Dada Bhai. Right now, everything is working against him.

A handshake that indicates the fight isn't over

Dada Bhai is the subject of an arrest warrant. In prison, Dada Bhai is approached by Rameshwar Singh (Saurabh Shukla), a political fixer who has been keeping an eye on the ascent and fall of authority. Since Rameshwar extends a hand, there might still be opportunity for a collaboration or arrangement. The movie ends with that handshake, indicating that the power struggle is far from over even if one dishonest guy has fallen.

In addition to extending the world of the first—now available on Netflix—Raid 2 goes deeper into the ethical compromises and political conspiracy surrounding the war against black money.
