Junior, the launchpad of actor Kireeti Reddy, released in theatres on July 18 and the Kannada-Telugu bilingual has been doing well at the box office, especially in the Telugu version. The film has been directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, who’d earlier made Mayabazar 2016 for Puneeth Rajkumar’s PRK Productions. The filmmaker has been soaking in all the praise that’s been coming his way for successfully launching Kireeti with Junior, which, based on the initial teasers was thought to be a light-hearted campus romance.
However, Radhakrishna created a compelling family drama with plenty of romance and action thrown in for good measure. The filmmaker told Tv9 Kannada that "the intention from the beginning was to make a family entertainer that would bring people of all age groups to theaters," and he expressed his gratitude that Kireeti's father, politician and businessman Janardhan Reddy, and producers Varaahi Chalana Chitram, gave him the chance to write and direct Junior, which marked Kireeti's debut.
"The most important thing about writing a film is that a producer or banner trusts your conviction and backs you up. But Junior was a difficult and demanding job since it had to be a mainstream commercial film that appeals to the general public and serve as the launchpad for a new performer. Radhakrishna stated, "Both were new challenges for me, but I was fortunate to have an actor as talented as Kireeti to work with. He's a bundle of raw talent, which made my job easy."
The filmmaker also discussed the public's preconceived notions prior to the movie's release that Junior would likely be a high-budget production with enormous sets and a protagonist who couldn't act. With his performance in the picture, Kireeti has refuted every one of them. The filmmaker says that Kireeti has been working hard to realize his ambition of becoming an actor for a few years. Radhakrishna didn't feel like he was working with an inexperienced person by the time they had completed a few schedules.

He points out that Kireeti had nearly done the climax in single-takes – such was his commitment to the scene and will to excel. “We may have reshot some sequences, but they were always for technical reasons and not about his performance,” added Radhakrishna.
