India's favorite entertainment destination, Prime Video, today released the trailer of its second Telugu Original movie, Uppu Kappurambu, a witty and satirical comedy set in a fictitious South Indian village where bureaucracy outweighs the deceased and the burial grounds are scarce. The future film, directed by Ani. I.V. Sasi, produced by Radhika Lavu under the name of Ellanar Films Pvt Ltd, and written by Vasanth Maringanti, features a fantastic ensemble cast led by Suhas and National Award-winning actor Keerthy Suresh, who is joined by Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari in supporting roles. On July 4, Uppu Kappurambu will have its exclusive premiere on Prime Video in India and more than 240 nations and territories throughout the world. It will be available to stream in Telugu with dubs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, as well as subtitles in 12 languages, including English.
The tale takes place in the early 1990s in Chitti Jayapuram, a superficially tranquil community with a strange problem: it has run out of room to bury the dead. As Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh), the idealistic new village head, assumes her role, she is mocked by the locals, who are uneasy with a woman in charge. She approaches Chinna (Suhas), the eccentric graveyard caretaker, in an effort to make amends, but his actions cause unforeseen mayhem. The trailer offers a peek into a world where social satire encounters unexpected warmth and mayhem, showing a roller coaster ride of humor, wit, and emotion from a humorous lucky draw to book graveyard slots to growing village drama.
“It was the unusual mix of satire and heart in Uppu Kappurambu that drew me to it,” says Keerthy Suresh. She remarked about her character, "Apoorva is a refreshingly different character," sharing insights about her personality. She has high expectations, is tenacious, and is somewhat out of her element. Bringing her character to life was a pure joy, especially in a culture so steeped in our rural roots. By utilizing humor and local flavor to highlight something serious, the movie strikes a chord. It's also what motivated me, and I'm excited for viewers to see this world on Prime Video.
"Unlike anything I've ever done before, playing Chinna was unique," Suhas explains. "He's a straightforward man who is trapped in a complex and complex circumstance." The movie's tone is perfectly captured in the trailer. It's weird, sentimental, and full of surprises. The thing I like most about Uppu Kappurambu is that it never attempts to preach. The trailer is merely a preview; there is much more craziness and emotion to be found, and I am thrilled that Prime Video will allow audiences worldwide to experience it.
