On Valentine's Day, newcomer director Roshan D'Souza released Nimitta Matra, a parapsychological thriller, alongside six or seven other Kannada films, in a somewhat peculiar release window. Nimitta Matra is the first of the February 14, 2025 releases to reach OTT, despite the film's poor box office performance in the face of this onslaught of releases. Sun Network acquired the film, which will be available on Sun NXT starting May 30, 2025.

Just a cause: A 15-year murderous trip

The incident that took place 15 years prior in Mangaluru, which is still having an impact, is the subject of Nimitta Matra, which is headed by Poornachandra Mysore (BB5), Arvind Kuplikar (director of Puksatte Lifeu), Sangeetha Rajeev, and others. Arvind was a cop, and Poornachandra was an investigative journalist; they were both working on the same case, but from different perspectives.

A man seeks refuge for a group of young children at an orphanage in Mangaluru, where the tale starts. The nuns choose to accept the youngsters in, albeit with some trepidation, but a terrible tragedy occurs in a matter of days when the majority of the children die of severe food poisoning. The youngster are thought to have been poisoned by the nun in charge of the orphanage, and she is taken into custody.

Fifteen years later, when Bangalore experiences a string of murders, a special investigation officer, played by Arvind, is tasked with uncovering the truth. Additionally, when his sister is discovered dead under strange circumstances, a journalist, played by Poornachandra, finds himself involved in the same inquiry. As it happens, there is a connection between the Mangaluru case and the Bengaluru murders. The remainder of the story describes how the police officer and reporter team solve this mystery, each using their own methods.

Cause One of the numerous movies coming to OTT this week is Matra. For Kannada audiences, there are My Hero, Vidyapati, and Agnyathavasi , but HIT 3, Retro, and Thudarum will be available with Kannada dubs.
