The first glimpse of the beloved gamekeeper, Hagrid, who will be played by the famous actor and comedian Nick Frost, was unveiled by the producers of HBO's Harry Potter series.

In the novels, Hagrid is the first person from the magical realm that Harry and the readers come across. As he introduces Harry to the world of magic, Hagrid tells him about his history and ancestry.

Harry starts teaching Care For Magical Creatures in his third year at Hogwarts. Hagrid plays the role of Harry's protector in the series.

Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley as the main characters.

John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Bertie Carvel, Anton Lesser, Paul Whitehouse, Johnny Flynn, and Bel Powley are the remaining members of the ensemble.

The series' writer, showrunner, and inventor is Francesca Gardiner. The show, which is directed by Mark Mylod, will debut in 2027.

As Nick Frost is revealed to be Hagrid, Harry Potter enthusiasts respond.

"Everyone ready? 'Ere we go!" was written on HBO Max's Instagram handle when it unveiled the first glimpse of Hagrid.

“Nick Frost has walked his first day in the big boots of Hagrid on the set of the new HBO Original Harry Potter series,” the statement said.

In the meantime, Frost's appearance as Hagrid drew a reaction from many Harry Potter enthusiasts.

One supporter commented, "Good choice."

Nick Frost is the perfect pick for this part, and I adore him. However, the beard and wig seem quite artificial. On this, makeup artists need a little bit more practice. One other person remarked, "It's kind of like cosplaying."

"Welcome, Harry, tô Diagon Alley!" "We have our Hagrid and he looks AMAZING!" said someone else.

At Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom, production for the show's debut season, which is expected to last through the spring of 2026, began Monday.
