Narivetta’s gripping plot

Author Abin Joseph has penned the story and screenplay for Narivetta, the plot of which unfolds in Wayanad where tribals are protesting over delay in land allocation by the state. The police are deputed in the tense area, and inevitably leads to confrontation between the protestors and the cop, with tragic consequences. From start to finish, Narivetta sticks to its

Tovino Thomas’ stellar performance

A gritty film like Narivetta needed a stellar actor in charge, and Tovino Thomas is perfect as the young cop Varghese who is thrown into the tense situation. Tovino brilliantly portrays the ordeal of a young cop who first resists the agitation with brute force and then is left grappling with his own conscience as he slowly begins to empathise with the tribals’ plight.

Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran and supporting cast

In addition to Tovino Thomas, Narivetta also features Suraj Venjaramoodu and Cheran in police roles. With Narivetta, the Tamil actor-director Cheran made his Malayalam debut, introducing a novel perspective to his role. Despite critics bemoaning the lack of screen time, Arya Salim's portrayal of activist C K Shanthi was also praised. Writer-director Shahi Kabir and the trio of Nandhu, Priyamvada Krishnan, and Pranav Teophine are among the other members of the cast.

Narivetta’s realistic portrayal

In spite of obvious links to the Muthanga tribal protests in Kerala, the producers of Narivetta have asserted that the movie is not based on any specific event. However, they made sure it was a fair representation of the delicate issue of tribal agitations. Even while forced to use force to put down unrest, the police are still humanized.

Narivetta technical crew

Narivetta is backed by a stellar technical crew. The film has music by Jakes Bejoy and his thumbing background score adds to the ominous tone of the film. But not the BGM, the Minnalvala song has also impressed the audiences. Sid Sriram and Sithara have provided the vocals for this pleasant song.

Vijay is the cinematographer, while Shameer Muhammad serves as the editor, ensuring that Narivetta remains an engrossing cinematic experience.
