Malayalam film, Bharathanatyam, is all set to have a sequel, according to latest reports. The second part has reportedly been titled 'Mohiniyattam' and it will be Saiju Kurup's 150th movie.

Updates on Bharathanatyam's sequel Mohiniyattam

Krishnadas Murali, who was making his directorial debut, created a successful digital debut for Bharatanatyam only weeks after its theatrical release. The movie made it very clear that content is king and that a good family entertainer will always be valued by the audience.

Given the success of Mohiniyattam, it is reasonable to infer that the sequel has been revealed and is now in the works. According to sources, the film will belong to a completely different genre while continuing the plot of Bharatanatyam. The initiative's producers want to begin filming in November in preparation for the film's theatrical debut the following year. Additional cast details should be released in the coming months. It is yet unclear if the remaining members of the original cast will make an appearance in the sequel.

Bharathanatyam garnered praise following OTT debut

The comedy-drama may be seen on Amazon Prime Video and Manorama Max. The movie centers on Sashidharan, Bharathan Nair's oldest child. The movie focuses on his family's battle to preserve their reputation and deal with the resulting moral quandaries when his father falls ill and expresses his dying wish to see his second wife and son. Even though the story of Bharatanatyam is not novel, its captivating performances have received acclaim. Additionally, the movie makes a deliberate effort to prevent exaggerating the dramatic moments involving the characters.

The movie's screenplay was written by the director. The film also features supporting roles for Sai Kumar, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sreeja Ravi, Divya M Nair, Nandu Pothuval, Sohan Seenulal, Swathi Das Prabhu, Sruthy Suresh, and Manikandan Pattambi. With this picture, Malayalam actress Kalaranjini returns to the industry after a little break. Thomas Thiruvalla Films and Saiju Kurup Entertainments provided financial backing for the film, which was produced by Lini Mariam David and Anupama B Nambiar.
