Mithila Palkar on Oho Enthan Baby: ‘Fame Was Never My Goal in Joining the Industry’ | Exclusive

You might be familiar with her from the popular video of her singing "Chaal Turu Turu" with a cup, the small series "Little Things," which moved from YouTube to Netflix, or the movie "Tribhanga," which dealt with the dysfunctional family of three generations of women. However, you will soon learn her name as she is soon to be introduced into the Tamil film community by Mithila Palkar, a Hindi actress from Maharashtra who is about to make her Tamil debut with the upcoming Oho Enthan Baby.
But how did it occur? Mithila informs OTTplay that the film's director, Krishnakumar Ramakumar, traveled to Mumbai. "All I knew was that I would be meeting Krishna sir for a narration of this film, and someone somehow in the circle had got in touch with me." I adored the movie after he narrated it. However, I am someone who enjoys reading and asked to share the screenplay. Mithila states, "And I still liked the film after I read it and I decided to be part of Tamil film Oho Enthan Baby."
Mithila Palkar's Tamil debut in Oho Enthan Baby
Because of her large family in Chennai, Mithila acertains that Tamizh is the correct pronunciation, not Tamil. "I could express myself in Tamil with Oho Enthan Baby. I'm really happy that I got the same kind treatment here that I usually do. They were all very kind and accommodating to me.

The young actress's filmography, which includes the Telugu remake of the Tamil romantic fantasy Oh My Kadavule (as Ori Devuda), the road drama Karwaan, and the comedy film Chopsticks, among others, discusses her perspective on how women are portrayed in contemporary film. “I feel like I am happy anytime a girl has a voice in the film,” Mithila adds in explanation. The importance of the role, not its length, matters in the movie. The movie works even if I'm only there for five minutes and making a difference, which is far better than being on screen the entire time. Why am I there even if my position is eliminated?

Mithila's adventure with the camera began a long time ago, not on movie sets, when she became popular on her phone with her version of Chaal Turu Turu with a cup. Mithila, who became an internet sensation before the rise of social media, claims that her goal has always been the same: to improve upon her previous performance. "The origin of opportunities is irrelevant." That is precisely how it all began. The film industry was unknown to my family and intimate friends, and none of them were in the theater. Thankfully, I'm from Mumbai, so that aspect was taken care of," she says.
Mithila started her career by coordinating theatre festivals and working behind the scenes. "When I was 19, I was a member of Thespo, a theater event for people under 25." I understood that's what I wanted to do as well when I saw amazing set ups and them doing what they enjoy, and I started networking and auditioning thanks to Thespo. With FilterCopy, a YouTube channel, I landed my first job. A year later, the cup song hit the market, riding the wave of the burgeoning internet revolution, Mithila says.

The actor also discusses how her time on Little Things (which she co-starred with Dhruv Sehgal) started as sketches. She says, "It started out on doing video sketches, and I don’t think there was a formula then and even now. We were given the chance to perform Little Things after that video was picked up. I never entered the profession with the intention of becoming well-known. Since it's merely a byproduct of my work as an actor. Is it fun for me? Yes, all actors, myself included, like attention, but I am aware that it is merely a side effect.
'I totally support social media as long as you know how to be nice on it.'
In her first experience working in the south, Mithila claims that her sensibilities have aligned with those of the filmmakers she has collaborated with, including Krishnakumar in Oho Enthan Baby and Ashwath Marimuthu in Ori Devuda. It is essential for me to get along with the director and my co-star. Fortunately, they have been kind enough to welcome me and assist me with the areas where I have been having difficulty. I was familiar with my acting skills, but I didn't know how to express myself when I didn't know what the words meant. Fortunately, I've been able to do it with both actors and directors, Mithila adds.
Do actors need a social media presence? Mithila believes it is crucial because of the current methods of information dissemination. "I don't want to discourage it since it has benefited me. Ultimately, it comes down to individual preference. Although some claim that social media has no surprises, I am the type of performer who doesn't share everything there. I'm more organic and don't always update in real time. As long as you know how to be kind on social media, I wholeheartedly support its usage.
"I've been really nice and appreciative of folks taking me in. However, I also adore using social media, and I've gotten a lot of love for both myself and Oho Enthan Baby. Many people have asked me to visit Tamil film. She concludes by saying, "I guess it's never too late, and hopefully here to stay."
