The eighth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, is the immediate follow-up to Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). The movie, which stars Tom Cruise, debuted in theaters in May 2025. The movie is now ready to be released on an over-the-top (OTT) platform.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning by Tom Cruise will be available on OTT platforms. On Tuesday, August 19, it will be available for purchase and rental on online marketplaces including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, according to Paramount Pictures.

At the same time, the official X account for Mission Impossible posted the news, adding the caption, "Around the world, you showed up. Now bring home #MissionImpossible - The Final Reckoning on Digital August 19 and see it in theaters today."

Ethan Hunt and his IMF squad face a renegade AI named the Entity in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which has broken into world intelligence networks. Before it's too late, Hunt has to identify the source code of the Entity and discover a method to stop it, as its dominance over cyberspace and manipulation of information is putting the world in danger of nuclear war.

In order to battle the Entity, the team develops a poison pill malware, but they also have to deal with the repercussions of the entity's acts and the potential for nuclear apocalypse.

In addition to new friends and foes, such as Gabriel, the movie brings back recurring characters like Benji, Luther, and Grace.
