According to the New York Post, the teaser for James Cameron's upcoming installment in the alien world, "Avatar: Fire and Ash," which will be released in theaters on December 19, was shown to the media on Monday at Disney's Los Angeles and New York headquarters. The teaser introduced Varang, a new villain.

In "Avatar: Fire and Ash," who is Varang?

Varang was purportedly pictured with a spiky red and black headdress and was voiced by Oona Chaplin, who is well-known for her roles in "Game of Thrones."

It is thought that she is the head of the Ash People, sometimes referred to as the Mangkwan Clan. Around volcanoes, high in the mountains, lives this race of Na'vi.

According to the article, the trailer depicts Varang strolling through a hot, grey scenery illuminated by lava and appearing to use a flamethrower.

In the teaser, she can be seen seemingly holding Jake and Neytiri's daughter Kiri (played by Sigourney Weaver) hostage while hissing, "Your goddess has no dominion here." The unique bond the girl has with Eywa, the spiritual being, is alluded to here.

According to Varang's assertion, her people either worship a different deity or none at all

What does Varang imply for the upcoming Avatar film?

The franchise, which has so far pitted humans against aliens, sees a shift with the introduction of this figure. The Na'vi will now be at each other's throats.

“Varang is the leader of a people who have endured an incredible hardship,” director Cameron told Empire. That has made her callous," she continued, "and she will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil."

The director also said that they wanted to go beyond the simplistic notion that the Na'vi are good and humans are wicked.

"We wanted to avoid being black-and-white in this movie. We're attempting to move beyond the 'all humans are bad, all Na'vi are good' paradigm."
