The teaser for Mayasabha, Sony LIV's most recent online series, which was just published, has captured everyone's attention. This series was directed by Deva Katta, who is receiving accolades for addressing the contentious subject of Andhra Pradesh politics and creating a series centered around the well-known figures Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

The seven-part series Mayasabha depicts how close friends turned foes before ultimately holding the position of Chief Minister of their respective states. The award-winning classic Prasthanam, by Deva Katta, made headlines. Unfortunately, however, he has only produced flops since then.

Deva was once considered one of the most sought-after directors in Telugu cinema but went on to deliver failures like Auto Nagar Surya and Republic. He also remade Prasthanam in Hindi, but that film ended up as a flop too.

Now that he has narrated Mayasabha in a splendid manner, he seems to be back on track. Deva Katta is known for the strong drama in his films, and judging by the teaser of Mayasabha, one feels that he is back with a solid subject to narrate.

On August 7, 2025, the series will premiere on Sony LIV, featuring Aadhi Pinisetty as Chandrababu Naidu and Chaitanya Rao as YS Rajasekhar Reddy. 

Deva Katta returns in a big way.

However, Deva Katta drew a lot of flak for producing unsuccessful films during his career. He was also helming a web series for Netflix that was based on Baahubali, but the project was put on hold because Netflix wasn't satisfied with the end result. As a result, his reputation suffered, and Deva made every effort to recover.

To prove himself, he chose Mayasabha, and now that the teaser is going viral, he is being praised by many in the industry. We need to see if the show lives up to all the hype or not. Nassar and Srikanth Iyengar play key roles in this series.
