The cooking reality TV show, MasterChef, created by Franc Roddam, has been successfully launching some of the most celebrated chefs around the world for over 3 decades now. Just like any other singing and dancing reality shows, the British culinary competition has become so famous that now several other countries have their own versions of MasterChef shows like MasterChef Australia, MasterChef India, and 40 more. The original show was aired from 1990 to 2001 on BBC One.

However, MasterChef Australia is the only one that became tremendously famous around the world, despite being invented by the British. Debuted in 2009, MasterChef Australia is now gearing up for Season 16. Indian audiences will be able to watch the Australian culinary competition on Disney+ Hotstar from April 23, 2024.

Brent Draper was the winner of MasterChef Australia Season 15. He took home a staggering $250,000 prize money in July 2023. Just 3 months later Channel Ten announced Season 16. Melissa Leong, who was one of the judges in Season 15, opted out from Season 16, and joined the spin-off show, MasterChef: Dessert Masters now. However, Andy Allen is returning to the judging panel along with Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday dropped the trailer, which finally showed the contestants. Although the production house has not revealed the names yet, the trailer shows 2 men and 2 women coming forward to introduce themselves.

In the trailer, Poh says, “Masterchef absolutely changed my life, being here now in a new capacity as a judge feels like a beautiful full circle moment."

Sofia shared that “joining this family, this community of food lovers is a sheer delight and privilege”; while Novelli said, “Around the globe when people speak of great cooking shows they speak of Masterchef Australia and to be part of this is both surreal and humbling.” However, Andy teased that the upcoming Season is all about “passion, giving it everything you have got, putting it all on your plate and creating extraordinary food.”

The most interesting part of Season 16 is the contestants and judges will head to an international location for the competition. Although the show previously travelled to the US, Dubai, Italy, Japan, London, New York, and Paris, the past 6 seasons locked its destination only in Australia. Not only that, but Season 16 also marks the second time the show will be travelling to Hong Kong.
