Maaman, the 2025 Tamil family drama which stars Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles, released in theatres in May and had been doing a good business, especially in towns and villages where family audiences thrive. While we had earlier reported that the film will release soon on an OTT platform, the Soori-starrer is yet to make its streaming debut.

The streaming rights of Maaman have been bagged by ZEE5, and will soon be available on the platform and OTTplay Premium. However, the platform has not yet announced its release date. With ZEE5 just debuting Santhanam’s Tamil film DD Next Level only last week, one can expect that it wants to take some time before releasing Maaman. With the film still running in selected theatres, it might take a little longer for the film to be available on OTT. Maaman might drop sometime in the last week of July or in August, with an official announcement yet to be made.

Maaman is a family drama, which revolves around the strong emotional bond between a man and his young nephew. The film explores the themes of privacy and family boundaries, when the overtly attached nephew becomes a hurdle in the lives of the uncle and his newly wedded wife.

Directed by Vilangu fame Prasanth Pandiyaraj, the family drama is backed by Lark Studios. With Aishwarya Lekshmi playing the female lead, the cast of Maaman also includes Rajkiran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Swasika, Baba Baskar, and Master. Prageeth Sivan, Bala Saravanan, Jaya Prakash, Viji Chandrasekar, Geetha Kailasam, Chaya Devi, Nikhila Sankar, Kalaivani Bhaskar, Melvin, Trichy Ananthi, Savithri, Saratha, Tamilselvi, Rail Ravi, Umesh Kanth. The technical crew consists of cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman, composer Hesham Abdul Wahab and Ganesh Siva as the editor.

With Rs 39 crore earned in India, the total box office for Maaaman worldwide is about Rs 44 crore. Despite the mixed reviews, Maaman saw a significant increase in ticket sales in cities and towns where family dramas are still popular today.

Reviewers gave Maaman mixed marks. "The Soori film begins with promise but falters due to over-the-top child antics, underexplored themes, and problematic portrayals," OTTplay stated, giving Maaman 2/5 stars.
