Reviews of Rajkummar Rao's latest movie, Maalik, have been mixed among reviewers and viewers. In this crime thriller, the actor portrays a gangster, a role he typically performs as sympathetic protagonists. Despite its updated appearance and growing word of mouth, the movie has still only had a mediocre weekend performance.

The weekend box office numbers are unchanged.

Despite Rao's presence in the film, Maalik made just ₹3.75 crore at the box office on Friday, indicating a subpar opening. The picture made ₹5.25 crore on Saturday, representing a 40% increase. The value decreased by 3% from the day before, Sunday, bringing it to ₹5.09 crore. The picture has made a total of ₹14.1 crore at the Indian box office thus far this weekend.

Due to occupancy rates of 22.43% in the afternoon and 8.05% in the morning, Maalik struggled during his performances on Sunday. The nighttime and evening performances had higher occupancy rates, at 29.79% and 22.81%, respectively. The film had an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 20.77% for the day.

Metro... Dino outshines the competition

The ensemble drama Metro... In Dino by Anurag Basu, which is now playing in theaters, is proving to be a tough film. The total collection of the multi-starrer, which included ₹4.75 crore on Sunday, came to ₹38.55 crore. Metro... Despite a sluggish beginning, Dino picked up steam over time as a result of positive word-of-mouth. Its income increased steadily throughout its second weekend, after making ₹26.85 crore in its first week. The film grossed 4.6 crores of rupees on its second Saturday, a 95% rise, and even more on Sunday.

Maalik opposed Metro... in Dino and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which starred newcomers Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor. However, the movie struggled to draw audiences, bringing in only ₹1.2 crore during its debut weekend and just ₹41 lakh on Sunday.

Comparisons to prior movies featuring Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao's recent box office hit offers more background. Mr & Mrs Mahi, his disappointing movie, nevertheless managed to bring in ₹16.85 crore in its first three days, which was more than Maalik's ₹14.1 crore. His previous movie, Bhool Chuk Maaf, had a opening weekend gross of ₹28 crore, which was about double that of Maalik.

Now that it's beginning to broadcast during the week, it will be crucial to observe how Maalik performs in the days ahead. The movie's success will depend on consistent word-of-mouth in the face of intense rivalry and disappointing box office results.
