After Joju George informed The New Indian Express journalists that he was not paid for his role in Lijo Jose Pellissery's 2021 Malayalam film Churuli and that the producers reneged on their promise to release the film with foul language in theaters, the film is now popular in the media.
Lijo Jose Pellissery responded to Joju George's assertions on his Facebook page after the matter was extensively discussed in online and other media outlets.
Due to the pain caused to his producer friends, Lijo Jose Pellissery stated in a letter in Malayalam addressed to his "dear friend Joju George" that he was providing an explanation. The movie with the A-certificate has not yet been shown in theaters, he said, and there is a High Court order following the formation of a panel to examine the language.
The renowned director also stated that he could not recall any occasion when Joju George was misled while filming. "Thankan Chettan (the role played by Joju George) has a good understanding of this language," he added.
