Who can ever forget the iconic role of Ballu Balaram from the 1993 film Khalnayak ? Sanjay Dutt has not only given a mind-blowing performance but the character is even considered one of the most powerful roles in his career. Balaram’s villainous charisma, Subhash Ghai’s direction, and Madhuri Dixit's popular number 'Choli Ke Peeche', everything about the film is still fresh in the audience's minds. Despite being a typical ‘90s Bollywood crime drama, Dutt’s performance remains one of the strongest negative roles in the industry.

Khalnayak 2 - Who will Subhash Ghai pick to play Balaram?

Hence, when Subhash Ghai announced that he would be making a sequel of Khalnayak, netizens couldn't stop speculating about the 64-year-old actor once again. But there's a twist. A source told India Today that Subhash Ghai is eyeing Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh for the role of Ballu Balaram, and not Sanjay Dutt again. The veteran director also revealed that he has finished with the script, and now he is looking to cast a young and dynamic actor for the role.

The source also revealed that Ghai is searching not only in Bollywood but also in the South industries as well. He would also like to approach Allu Arjun or KGF star Yash for the legendary Ballu Balaram role.

Meanwhile, the sequel will go on floors, the moment Subhash Ghai signs the lead actor.

Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai song

The song ‘Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai’, featuring Madhuri Dixit, from Khalnayak is one of the main reasons for the film’s immense success and, therefore, numerous filmmakers have already given it a modern touch in recent times. For instance, let's take Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon’s film Crew. The trio look absolutely stunning in western attire, and of course, Diljit Dosanjh’s voice is on another level. Although the makers just used the music and the iconic 'Chol Ke Peeche Kya Hai’ line from the song, it made netizens super excited.

While some complimented the song by saying that this is how remakes should be made, some couldn't stop praising Dosanjh’s voice. Some even showered compliments on Kareena by citing her other item songs like ‘Fevicol’ and ‘Chammak Challo’. Some even gave a big shout-out to the filmmakers for giving a fresh twist to the old-school music.
