Kayoze Irani Opens Up: Why Sarzameen Was Destined for a Direct OTT Launch

The trailer of Sarzameen, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, suggests that viewers should expect to be blown away. The confrontation between Prithviraj and Ibrahim as they portray a father-son combination will undoubtedly be the most anticipated scene. Kayoze Irani, the film's director, explained the rationale for its planned OTT release ahead of its release.

Why was Sarzameen intended from the start to be released directly over-the-top?

In an interview with Screen, director Kayoze Irani was asked if he had ever considered a theatrical release for Sarzameen or if the film was always intended for an online release.

In response, Kayoze said, "Honestly, Sarzameen has always been an OTT movie." That was our strategy, and we worked with JioHotstar to implement it. The YouTube reactions we're receiving over the past week—that why not theatre—are what have astonished me. We're only now realizing that we had this tiny sensation about the movie release. However, this has always been an excessive movie. The size and atmosphere may be what people are seeing.

He also said that as a director, he never considers filming anything merely because it will work for OTT.

"All I want to do is create the movie I want. When we talked about the narration, it was always planned to release it via OTT. However, I will gladly accept it since it is a compliment, he said.
