Dispute over thug life
The tale of a notorious mafia boss seeking vengeance after being betrayed is told in Thug Life. The movie sparked debate when Kamal declared at a promotional event that "the Kannada language was born out of Tamil." Kamal claimed that his words were misinterpreted and used out of context in response to the controversy. On the planned day, the movie was not released in Karnataka.
Haasan was asked to retract his remarks and provide an unconditional apology by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). "The Karnataka High Court has also taken this topic very seriously. In light of this, we agreed at Tuesday's meeting to ask him to apologize and retract the remark," the KFCC said.
Along with Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf, Silambarasan TR, and Kamal, Thug Life also features them. The editor is A Sreekar Prasad, the cinematographer is Ravi K Chandran, and the film's music is by maestro AR Rahman.
