Mani Ratnam's film, Thug Life, which stars Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR, and Trisha Krishnan in the main roles, had a respectable but not spectacular box office result on its fourth day of release. Sacnilk reports that in the first four days after its debut, the movie's net revenue in India was ₹35.64 crore.

In India, Thug Life made its theatrical debut on Thursday and earned a net revenue of ₹15.5 crore on its first day. The movie made ₹7.15 crore on Friday, which was a significant decline. With a collection of ₹7.75 crore, collections improved somewhat on Saturday. The movie earned about ₹5.24 crore net in India on Sunday, bringing its total for the first weekend to ₹35.64 crore.

Although these collections are good, expectations for Kamal and Mani's first movie together in years were greater. The film collections did not improve over the weekend, so it seems less probable that there will be any shifts throughout the week. Shankar's Indian 2, Kamal's prior movie, did better than Thug Life, earning 62.15 crore rupees in its first four days and 59.15 crore rupees by its first weekend. At that time, Mani's Ponniyin Selvan I and II had also earned ₹120.15 crore and ₹103.75 crore, respectively.

On Thug Life

Kamal portrays Shaktivel, also known as Shakti, and Silambarasan, his adopted son Amar, in Thug Life. The movie also stars Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. After their 1987 smash Nayakan, which is now regarded as a cult favorite, Kamal and Mani's first film is Thug Life. Given that Karnataka is a decent market for Tamil movies outside Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film's prohibition in the state following the linguistic dispute may have also had an impact on its box office receipts.
