Prithviraj Sukumaran's highly anticipated film, Kaaliyan, which was first revealed in 2018, has been on the back burner for a while since it didn't take off. The team has at last confirmed a good update with the commencement of pre-production activities for Kaaliyan.

One of the ambitious Malayalam projects is Kaaliyan, which stars Prithviraj and is directed by S Mahesh Gurukkal. To the joy of Prithviraj supporters, images of the director and other cast members have appeared online as the film's pre-production has now begun. Kaaliyan is a historical drama that focuses on the 17th-century warrior Kunchirakkotu Kali. Kunchirakkotu Kali isn't a household name, despite being a reliable assistant to the famous Iravikkutty Pillai. Through this courageous narrative, the movie explores the warrior's existence. In the role of the warrior, Prithviraj Sukumaran would be seen in the front. It has been said that Sathyaraj, a Tamil actor who is most famous for his Kattappa character in the Baahubali franchise, might be brought in to portray Iravikkutty Pillai. But it hasn't been formally announced by the manufacturers.

Rajeev Govindan, who previously supported another Prithviraj Sukumaran picture named Anarkali, produced S Mahesh Gurukkal's Kaaliyan. The DOP is Sujith Vaassudev, and Ravi Basrur, who is well-known for his work on KGF, has been brought in to write the music. The remaining members of the cast and crew are still unknown. The Kaaliyan producer had previously informed OTTplay that they intend to complete filming by the following year, and the movie is scheduled to begin filming this year or in the beginning of 2026.
