In a recent interview with The New Indian Express, Joju George revealed that some people were dissatisfied with Pani. Joju claimed that he spent two years of his life and Rs 18 crore on the movie and that he believed it merited greater recognition.
Joju started in Malayalam films with little, uncredited performances before moving on to supporting roles and eventually playing leading roles.
"Some people find it hard to accept my success," he stated, adding that they had witnessed his struggle as a young performer making Rs 50.
"It's worth considering whether the film would have gotten a better reception if the director's name had been different," he observed.
The movie, which was praised by the Tamil community, was also mentioned by the actor-director.
