At last, an update on Jana Nayagan! The title glimpse of Vijay's next movie was unveiled by the producers at midnight, revealing the actor in the role of a tough police officer. A character poster with Vijay in khaki uniform was also published as a follow-up to this.

Jana Nayagan Update: New Poster Released

One of the most eagerly awaited Tamil movies is Jana Nayagan, which stars Vijay. The producers moved the initial October release date to January of the following year. The producers issued a sneak peek of Vijay's character and a poster to commemorate his birthday on Sunday.

The poster shows Vijay in police uniform as he wields a sword and sports an intense look. Vijay has earlier played a cops and vigilantes in films like Theri, Thuppaki and Pokkiri.

Jana Nayagan poster and video heavily hints that the film will be a remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film, which is directed by Anil Ravipudi, is a blockbuster drama about a former cop becoming a guardian to his friend’s daughter. Earlier, there were reports that Vijay had watched the film five times and had wanted to remake it. However, the makers of Jana Nayagan have not confirmed or denied the allegations. The film is directed by H Vinoth.

Jana Nayagan release date

KVN Productions is behind Jana Nayagan, and Anirudh Ravichander, who has written music for Vijay's Beast, Leo, and Master, is the composer. The movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters on January 9, 2026, and Prime Video has acquired the rights to broadcast it on its service following its theatrical debut. Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Menon, and others are among the ensemble cast of Jana Nayagan.

Vijay previously stated that he would retire from acting in order to devote himself to politics full-time, and Jana Nayagan will be his final movie. The film's release, which occurs only a few months before the 2026 elections, is highly anticipated by fans.
