When Jambi was revealed as the first Malayalam film to set in a zombie universe, film lovers were thrilled. Today (June 15), the producers have published a teaser that offers a sneak peek at the film. The film, which is supported by Weekend Blockbusters, is helmed by George Kora.

Jambi first-look teaser

In just over a minute, this video captures the undead universe of Jambi. It shows a velichappadu staring intently up at the night sky. According to Hindu tradition, the velichappadu acts as a conduit between devotees and a deity. He soaks his body in turmeric and vermilion red powders, and then he eerily vanishes into thin air as his eyes become white. The audience catches a quick glimpse of a terrifying, zombie-like figure staring straight at them. Even if it doesn't give anything about the story or the cast, it gives a glimpse of the spine-tingling thrill that the film would deliver in theaters.

Jambi's teaser in the ending of Detective Ujjwalan

Detective Ujjwalan, Dhyan Sreenivasan's most recent film, featured this new teaser as an after-credit scene. The link between these films is suggested by the fact that the same Velichappadu who appears in the video also made a fleeting appearance in the investigative thriller.

The recent release of Detective Ujjwalan complements Weekend Blockbusters' efforts to develop the first cinematic universe in Malayalam film. This franchise also includes Minnal Murali, starring Tovino Thomas. Meanwhile, the audience was left wondering about the producers' next films and increased interest for them due to the subplots in these films that show their attempts to include an intriguing cinematic universe (WCU).

The script for Jambi was written by George Kora, Harikrishnan, and Nandu Manoj. The cast and crew's other details remain unknown. It was earlier reported that Pearle Maaney will play a pivotal role in Jambi. In December 2024, a motion teaser with the title was released by the makers. It will hit the big screen in 2026.
