One of the most anticipated Malayalam movies of the year, Hridayapoorvam stars Mohanlal in the main role. Lead actor Mohanlal has now dispelled rumors regarding the release date and has announced that Hridayapoorvam will be released in theaters on August 28, 2025, as an Onam release. In addition to his Hridayapoorvam co-star Sangeeth Prathap, Mohanlal also released an odd poster.

The release date of Hridayapoorvam is announced by Mohanlal

The veteran director Sathyan Anthikad is behind the upcoming Malayalam picture, Hridayapoorvam, starring Mohanlal. There were earlier rumors that Hridayapoorvam would be released on Onam, but the date was never formally established.

In preparation for the Onam festivities, the actor posted on social media on Sunday to announce that Hridayapoorvam will be released on August 25. In addition, he published an official poster with him and Sangeeth Prathap. In the odd poster, a perplexed Sangeeth is seen physically pulling Mohanlal's legs. The poster, like the movies for which Sathyan Anthikad is famous, exudes a cheerful mood.

Significantly, Mohanlal's two other 2025 releases, Empuraan and Thudarum, were huge successes.

Sangita Madhavan Nair, Siddique, Baburaj, Lalu Alex, and Janardhanan co-star with actress Malavika Mohanan in the lead role.

For Malayalam film lovers, Hridayapoorvam is noteworthy because it brings Mohanlal back together with his Nadodikkattu director. During the late 1980s and 1990s in particular, the pair produced a number of successes together. Their well-known partnerships include Nadodikkattu, Pattanapravesham, and Gandhinagar 2nd Street.

Other releases for Onam 2025

Other highly-anticipated Malayalam films releasing in theaters for Onam include Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, starring Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan. This film, directed by actor and director Althaf Salim, marks his second time directing a movie.

In addition to Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, which also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, another film is hoping for an Onam release. This movie, which is supported by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, also features Naslen. Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan are anticipated to have cameo roles in this film, which Dominic Arun directed.

Maine Pyar Kiya, starring Preity Mukhundhan and Hridhu Haroon, is another film that will be released during the holiday season, competing with the major productions.
