Ground Zero Finale Decoded: How Emraan Hashmi’s Character Defeats Ghazi Baba

After its theatrical release earlier this year, the thrilling action film Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi, is now available for streaming on Prime Video. The film's director, Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, took inspiration from actual events in which the Indian army launched a daring operation to eliminate the notorious terrorist Ghazi Baba, who was behind the 2001 assault on the Indian parliament.

The mission is located in the valley, which is full of conflict

Following BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey (Emraan Hashmi) as he heads a covert operation to capture Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Ghazi Baba, Ground Zero is set against the backdrop of Kashmir. Despite his history of radicalizing young men and orchestrating attacks similar to the one on Parliament, Ghazi remains an enigma with a network of local ties and numerous safe houses.

Ghazi's men are seen at the start of the film brainwashing young people into joining the "Pistol Gang," which is made up of Kashmiri lads who are paid to kill Indian soldiers. The mission takes on a very personal dimension with the murder of a school bus security and the resulting indirect threat to Dubey's daughter.

Dubey succeeds in capturing one of the murderers, a university student named Hussain. Dubey transforms the kid into an informer after accepting his position as a reluctant pawn. With the aid of Hussain, an insider, Dubey finds a Greek practitioner whom he believes may be connected to Ghazi. Ghazi is guided by a planted tracker to a hideout where he is able to murder the physician.

Dubey is getting closer to his goal with every passing event, including the sad one at the Akshardham Temple in Gujarat. In a trap, terrorists kill Hussain, leaving Dubey heartbroken yet determined.

Dubey arrests Chand Khan, a Jaish handler, who reveals Ghazi's most likely location after a failed attempt to target the Prime Minister's motorcade. With the aid of a school portrait of Ghazi's son, Dubey finds a home.

The last act

Dubey must first seek permission from his boss, Sanjeev Sharma (Mukesh Tiwari), before the raid may continue. Dubey, however, decides to act. He and other BSF officers break into a house with many floors. They are ignorant of the fact that Ghazi has set himself up in a hidden room in the basement..

Dubey loses several men and continues to move forward as the gunfire intensifies. The final round features a brutal hand-to-hand fight between Dubey and Ghazi. Despite his injuries, Dubey kills Ghazi by strangling him, bringing an end to his terror.

The actual-life accomplishments of Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, a BSF soldier who retired in 2022 and was awarded the Kirti Chakra for bravery, are brought to light in the film's closing scene. In the film's conclusion, Dubey keeps his promise to accompany his daughter to school alongside a man dressed as Santa Claus, rather than the armed guard she had previously feared.

Written by Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Srivastava, Ground Zero is a moving dramatization of an actual counter-terrorism mission. Despite the film's liberal use of dramatic license, its focus on the human cost of conflict and moral ambiguity makes it more sophisticated than most jingoistic fare.
