Fahadh Faasil explains to The Hollywood Reporter India in a recent interview why the film cannot be produced in Malayalam. According to reports, Maareesan is a road film that takes place over three or four nights.

"Maareesan only occurred in Tamil since it was more practical to carry it out there. The terrain is crucial, and we were unable to locate the cast. In Malayalam, we were supposed to travel from Trivandrum to Palakkad, which would take us six to seven hours, according to Fahadh Faasil, who has also starred in a number of well-known Tamil films, including Super Deluxe.
