Brad Pitt's F1, a high-budget foray by Apple Studios into global theatrical distribution, performed well in India during its debut weekend. The movie directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick is performing well, with an anticipated net income of ₹21.25 crore in India three days after its release.

Daily breakdown of revenue by language

The movie earned ₹5.5 crore on its first day of release, Friday, June 27. The English version earned the most money (₹5 crore), followed by the Hindi dub (₹0.4 crore), Telugu dub (₹0.05 crore), and Tamil dub (₹0.05 crore). The numbers rose by 40.91% on Saturday, bringing in a total of Rs 7.75 crore in all languages. The first predictions for Sunday indicate that the day three earnings will be about ₹8 crore, bringing the total to ₹21.25 crore.

The Hindi and Tamil editions of F1 had occupancy rates of 14.66% and 24.98% on Sunday, while the English version had a rate of 47.01%. The Telugu version was completely ignored during the entire weekend. The film's popularity in cities was largely due to the high attendance at upscale multiplexes.

Indian films faced stiff competition.

Films like Maa (starring Kajol), Kannappa (starring Vishnu Manchu), and Sitaare Zameen Par (starring Aamir Khan) questioned F1. In contrast to Maa's weekend total of about ₹17.4 crore, F1's was only marginally more. After it was released on the same day, Kannappa allegedly got closer to non-Hindi areas while making about Rs 20 crore.

In comparison, the movie Sitaare Zameen Par is now the highest-grossing film in theaters. The film's entire revenue reportedly exceeded ₹82 crore in only six days, with a respectable ₹27.25 crore earned on Sunday, significantly more than F1. The fact that Housefull 5 made just ₹54 crore in its first week of release also demonstrates how challenging it is for movies that aren't franchises to attract large audiences.

A robust worldwide showing

Due to strong performance in international markets and IMAX screenings, F1 had a fantastic opening weekend, bringing in about $144 million in total worldwide. However, given the sport and genre's restricted popularity in India, the show's long-term potential will depend on word-of-mouth and consistency throughout the week.

The goal of F1 is to bridge the gap between the actual world of Formula 1 racing and the art of filmmaking. Apple Studios, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Plan B Entertainment collaborated to create it. Many scenes were filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends. Early signs for a Hollywood sports drama in India are positive, but the movie's potential to contend with other July releases is unknown.
