When Rohit Padaki, a Kannada filmmaker, presented the subject of his film Ekka, an interim project he intended to work on while Uttarakaanda was on hold, he had the support of three well-known production companies. KRG Studios joined in early on and then brought in PRK Productions and Jayanna Films as well. Rohit had won the lottery, but the next hurdle was persuading all three banners that this was the best screenplay to work on together.

The filmmaker stated on the Gold Class with RJ Mayuraa podcast that there were many discussions, the majority of which were beneficial criticism. "Ultimately, it became clear that the greatest responsibility is to make a good picture. The issue is that no one can define what makes a movie good. I know that I must tell my tale to the best of my ability, and a group of individuals have gathered in support of this. According to my tastes, this film is a good cinema if audiences enjoy it as well, Rohit says.

Even moneymakers like the KGF franchise and Kantara, according to the director, have their critics. “Steve Jobs once said, ‘If you want to please people, please sell ice cream; even then, people will not be pleased.’ Therefore, it is impossible to make everyone happy. I'm not sure if Ekka will be a slam dunk as I take my seat for this discussion. However, when it comes to the process of creating Ekka, I've won. I am celebrating the enjoyment of the labor we have put in throughout the previous seven to eight months, "Rohit adds.

The filmmaker continues, "For me, it's not about what Ekka's box office does for me after that, but about what it does for me afterwards." The most important thing for a filmmaker is if they have a new movie in the works. "My victory after Rathnan Prapancha was that I had another film (Uttarakaanda) in hand. Not every filmmaker can afford that luxury, he claims.
