Fans can anticipate a multi-layered love story set against a broader socio-cultural backdrop in Imtiaz Ali's next movie. The unnamed movie will begin production in August 2025 and be released in theaters on Baisakhi 2026.

The cast includes both established actors and rising stars. Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah serve as the ensemble's leaders. Ali's earlier writings have repeatedly addressed topics of identity, human connection, and belonging, creating a story that is both contemporary and funny.

A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali, three of the most respected figures in Indian cinema, are reunite. Given their previous collaborations and the unforgettable musical journeys they provided, audiences may expect that the film's score will heavily utilize its expressive capabilities.

The filmmakers declared the film with the statement, "Stories aren't just told—they are felt, lived, and remembered; Imtiaz Ali brings to the silver screen one such unforgettable saga of love and longing."

In his remark, Imtiaz Ali also said, "Tum mere paas hote ho goya, jab koi doosra nahin hota" (You are with me, however, when there is no one else.) – Momin.

Before exploring the story's emotional depth, he asked, "Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone's heart?"

Ali further stated that the movie is expansive in scope yet intimate, and that it is filled with affection. He said, "It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country."

The director ended with, "Wish us well as we dive into the currents of this dynamic story; we hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you."

Although the makers have not revealed much about the plot, we do know that it takes place during a historical or transitional period and that it weaves together personal and political themes. More details about the project will likely be announced in the following months as production begins in August and an April 2026 festival release is anticipated.
