Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage directed the 2023 film Paradise, which stars Indian performers Darshana Rajendran and Roshan Mathew in the main roles. The movie depicts the Indian couple Kesav and Amritha's trip to Sri Lanka to celebrate their wedding anniversary, but the economic collapse in the island nation soon affects their lives and relationship. In a lively conversation with OTTplay, Darshana Rajendran, who plays Amritha in the moving picture, discusses the reasons why Paradise is a feminist film. Is Paradise a feminist movie? asks director Prasanna.

In contrast, Paradise director Prasanna Vithanage was more forthright and upbeat when asked if his movie was a feminist film.

"I don't have to hide it, of course. What is feminism, though? It's a feminist movie. Feminism is not a biological concept. A man can be a feminist as well, he asserted firmly.

"As an artist, I still don't believe women have received their due and respect and opportunities in our society as men, particularly in our field, cinema," the Sri Lankan filmmaker continued. Since artists should always support the marginalized, regardless of their gender or ethnic background. At that point, Paradise is indeed a feminist film.
