The most recent film by Nelson Venkatesan, famed for titles like Monster and Farhana, is DNA, which was released in theaters on June 20, 2025. Prior to its release, the Tamil original film, which stars Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan, had its OTT partner lined up, so it was well understood that the crime drama would be available on JioHotstar after its theatrical run. The streaming date, however, was not yet available at the time.

DNA on OTT on...

JioHotstar has now scheduled DNA’s streaming debut. The film will be available on the platform from July 19, with versions in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, as well. Written by Nelson along with Athisha Vino, DNA also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Thilak, Viji Chandrasekhar, Chetan, Riythvika, Thendral Raghunathan, Aishwarya Raghupati, Manasa Choudhary, Subramaniam Siva and Karunakaran, among many others.

Produced by Jayanthi Ambethkumar and S Ambethkumar for Olympia Movies, DNA credits its music to Sathyaprakash, Sreekanth Hariharan, Pravin Saivi, Sahi Siva and Anal Akash, while Ghibran Vaibodha has handled the background score. Cinematography was handled by Parthiban.

The movie tracks the challenges and tribulations faced by a young couple, Anand (Atharvaa) and Divya (Nimisha), who are expecting their first kid when they realize that the child given to them is not their own. Despite DNA proof that the youngster handed to Anand and Divya is not their biological child, the couple is compelled to pursue a criminal gang responsible for this abduction, even though the hospital denies any wrongdoing.

Since making her Tamil film debut in Chithha, Nimisha, a Malayalam actress, has appeared in films like Mission: Chapter 1 and Jigarthanda DoubleX, as well as in the Hindi anthology Lantrani and web series like Poacher and Dabba Cartel. Atharvaa's last appearance was in Karthick Naren's Nirangal Moondru, which was his first film of the year that utilized DNA. Idhayam Murali, Address, and Parasakthi are just a few of the movies that the actor has coming out soon.
