The highly anticipated follow-up to JP Dutta's Border (1997) is Border 2. The film, which features Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Sunny Deol in the key roles, is scheduled to be released in theatres on January 23, 2026. In the middle of all of this, fresh information about Diljit's filming, including when the shoot will conclude, appeared online.

Border 2 shoot update ft. Diljit Dosanjh and Sunny Deol

Diljit Dosanjh will begin filming Border 2 in June, according to . Diljit will start his trip on Border 2 on June 10, according to the source, and Sunny Deol will be filming the sequences with him in the first leg. In contrast, the actor-singer will begin filming with Varun Dhawan in July during the second half of his tenure.

The source continued by stating that Diljit has strong interactions with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. Additionally, his part has a compelling history. Anurag Singh wants to bring Border 2 to a close by August 10, according to the portal.

The source stated that "Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan will complete their portion in the month of August 2025, while Sunny Deol is planning to end filming for a significant portion of his role in June end."

Diljit Dosanjh stated in an earlier episode of a new podcast that he would play Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, an Indian Air Force officer who received the Param Vir Chakra after his death.

Mid-Day, however, said that Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra Award recipient, would be portrayed by Varun Dhawan. Following the Indo-Pak War of 1971, he was also elevated to the rank of Colonel in 1976.

"In addition to conducting look sessions with designer Sheetal Sharma, Varun met Indian officers, celebrated Army Day with them, and attempted to learn more about their lives during conversations," the source continued. Additionally, it said that Varun's narrative will begin with him enlisting in the military from Sisana village in Haryana, which will set off his voyage to the India-Pakistan war.

Reports indicate that Sunny Deol will portray a soldier in the sequel, which will reportedly be based on the Kargil War of 1999.

Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta are the producers of Border 2, which is directed by Anurag Singh, the well-known Kesari fame director. The movie is scheduled to be released in theatres on January 23, 2026.
