On Manorama Max, the Malayalam film Azadi recently made its OTT debut. The Tamil version of this thriller, which stars Sreenath Bhasi in the lead, is available on OTTplay Premium and Sun NXT. The film, on the other hand, is being lauded for its compelling plot and nuanced performances by the main actors.

Online users have lauded Azadi as a gripping thriller

The prison escape thriller is being lauded for being faithful to its genre and for eschewing many crowd scenes and tricks. The lead actors, which include Lal, Raveena, Vani Viswanath, and Sreenath Bhasi, have been commended for their acting. Sreenath performs a touching act, while Lal gives Azadi a broad appeal by providing a thorough narrative.. 

Others, however, assert that the film did not meet audiences' expectations because Saiju Kurp's character was not fully developed and there were some boring moments that caused slight gaps. 

The movie is praised for its fascinating plot and superb performances. The movie, according to some, deserved greater appreciation in theaters.

Details of Azadi's plan

The main focus of Azadi is on Ganga, a pregnant prisoner who was transported to a medical college to give birth. The son of a prominent politician is said to have been murdered by Ganga. Her father, Shivan, a former goon, and husband, Raghu, make arrangements for her to escape from prison. The plan, which is intended to be carried out in a single day, runs into unforeseen roadblocks when police officers become aware of it. The heart of the film is a tense confrontation at the hospital. However, the audience will be surprised by the unexpected turn of events at the end.

Some of Azadi's supporting cast members include Boban Samuel, Rajesh Sharma, Shobi Thilakan, T G Ravi, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Gilu Joseph, Asha Madathil, Vijayakumar, and Saiju Kurup. Jo George's debut as a director is this one. The thriller, which was released in theaters in May 2025, was written by director Sagar. Faizal Raja sponsored this film under the banner of Little Crew Production.
