Avinash Tiwary Opens Up on Shelved Farhan Akhtar Project
4 months ago | 5 Views
Avinash Tiwary is committed to making a lasting impression in Bollywood after gaining success on OTT platforms. The actor revealed during an open talk that a significant opportunity for theatrical employment last year—a large endeavor with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment—did not materialize.
Excel Entertainment missed a chance.
"I was supposed to make a big Excel film, but it didn't take off last year," Tiwari confesses. However, theatre will play a larger role in my filmography. I have to be in the theater in order to have any significance in this nation as an actor.
Despite the widespread acclaim he has received for his OTT hits like Bambai Meri Jaan, Khakee, and Kaala, the actor has admitted that he is still figuring out how to translate his passion into popularity. "Sab kuch hote hote kuch bhi fatt kyun nahin raha hai (Everything seems to be falling into place, yet nothing is really taking off)," he says. I don't get it. I have never been able to figure out why only a small number of people have viewed the majority of my artworks, despite the fact that nearly everyone who has seen them has loved them.
Theatrical successes with the re-release of Laila Majnu and Madgaon Express
As he notes, the theatrical premieres of both Madgaon Express and Laila Majnu were a big hit and left a lasting impression. He continued, "It occurred in the present scenario, where theatres and individuals are unsure of what will work. Therefore, I must go and expand on it. I see this period of my career as a time of growth."
Although the Excel film's cancellation was a setback, it also represented a turning point in his career. Tiwary knew that he had to change his attitude in order to get rid of the stigma of being an "OTT actor." "The OTT actor tag only happened because there was COVID, but I was looking at doing theatricals," he said. "And then last year, I was working on a few movies that didn't really catch on, and that's when I realized that I need to take charge and make a difference so that I'm not just on one platform."
OTT is still important.
Tiway, however, does not ignore the online forum. "I have always viewed OTT as a chance to connect with audiences throughout the world," he went on to say. "But theater is the way to make sure that I have connection and relevance with the people in India."
With Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, Tiwary is prepared to move forward with assurance after finishing his first solo feature picture since Laila Majnu. The performer remains dedicated to making theatres a key component of his career story, despite certain obstacles along the way.
