We had earlier reported that actor Arun Vijay will be headlining a film titled Retta Thala. The makers had released the first look poster of the film on social media on Tuesday. The film will have Arun Vijay, who was last seen in Mission: Chapter 1, play dual roles. In conversation with OTTplay, the director of the film opened up about what the upcoming film would be.

Retta Thala is directed by Kris Thirukumaran who earlier helmed Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Maan Karate and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Gethu. In a conversation with OTTplay, he said, "It will be an action thriller and we are looking to make it commercial. The film will have action sequences, songs. Arun Vijay is doing double action in the film.”

Further quizzed about the film, Kris quoted Tamil phrases to explain the genesis of Retta Thala, “Ondril irundhu ondru (one from one), ondru kaga ondru (one for one), ondru kondru ondru (one kills one). This is the one-liner and the basic idea of the film.” The film is set to go on floors by April end and will be shot across locales, including Goa, Pondicherry, Tharangampadi, Chennai, and other international locations.

Besides Arun Vijay, the film will also feature Siddhi Idnani and Tanya Ravichandran. There are known faces in the cast, which will be unveiled one by one, the director added. The upcoming film’s technical crew consists of music scored by Sam CS, cinematography by Tijo Tomy and editing by Anthony. Stunt choreography will be handled by the popular duo AnbAriv.

When asked about the release, the director said, “The film is being made on a large scale and the producers have chalked out the promotions and release. We will release the film once it is a suitable time.” Bobby Balachandran is backing the film under BTG Universal.

Meanwhile, Arun Vijay was last seen in Mission: Chapter 1 and wrapped up working for Bala’s Vanangaan.
