On April 19, Yuva, the debut vehicle of Yuva Rajkumar, the latest member from the Rajkumar family, came on OTT. The production house, Hombale Films, had sold the streaming rights to Amazon Prime Video prior to the release and made Yuva available to stream as early as after week 3 of its theatrical outing. The Santhosh Ananddram directorial, though, made its way to the store only at a rental-only access at Rs 349 for subscribers and non-subscribers of the platform. The latest update is that Yuva will be accessible to subscribers for free as of April 26.

Yuva released in theatres on March 29 and was panned widely for its lacklustre plot. Yuva Rajkumar’s dance and action skills were praised, but the same was not said about his acting chops. Santhosh Anandrram’s film had Yuva Rajkumar as a college student and promising wrestling athlete, whose sporting dreams go up in smoke when he is alleged to have taken money to fix a match. While serving out his suspension from the game, Yuva spends his time drinking and picking up fights with local students.

However, when his family faces a personal tragedy, Yuva has to step up and take care of his mother and sister, while also finding a way around their new troubles, even as his coach works on clearing his name and getting Yuva another shot at the glory he deserves. The film, which has music by Ajaneesh B Loknath, also stars Sapthami Gowda, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani and Hitha Chandrashekar, among others.

Yuva Rajkumar is yet to announce his next venture, although he has been vocal about his willingness to collaborate with Santhosh and Hombale Films again. In fact, it was earlier rumoured that the actor has a three-film deal with the banner, which he has not confirmed. An announcement for his next was expected on the actor’s birthday on April 23, but that was not to be.

Fancy watching Santhosh Ananddram's more successful Raajakumara or Mr and Mrs Ramachari, then look no further than OTTplay Premium.
