The horror-comedy genre has always been a favourite among audiences, blending spine-tingling moments with hearty laughter. Now, a quirky new addition—Bhootham Praytham—is gearing up to entertain movie lovers with a perfect mix of chills and comedy. Adding to the excitement, blockbuster director Anil Ravipudi recently launched the film’s first look poster and motion teaser, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling theatrical ride in 2025.
Fear Meets Fun in Bhootham Praytham
Directed and written by Raajesh Dhruva, the film presents a refreshing take on supernatural comedy, banking on both spooky atmospheres and rib-tickling humour. The cast features familiar and beloved talents such as Yadamma Raju, Gully Boy Bhaskar, Bigg Boss Emmanuel, Balveer Singh, Gaddam Naveen, Pavan Shetty, and Raajesh Dhruva himself, alongside Radhika Achuth Rao in a key role.
Speaking at the launch event, Anil Ravipudi expressed his joy in unveiling the project, recalling his past collaboration with some of the actors on comedy shows like Comedy Stock Exchange. He wished the team immense success, calling the project a promising entertainer for audiences who love both scares and laughs.
A First Look that Sparks Curiosity
The unveiled first look poster cleverly sets the mood—it depicts leading actors in exaggerated states of fear, instantly intriguing the viewer. The accompanying motion teaser takes the suspense a step further. It opens with an eerie birthday party setup inside what seems like a haunted house, complete with balloons and a cake that contrast against the unsettling backdrop.
Soon, visuals of a voodoo doll, a burning candle, and eerie silence establish the supernatural tension. Just as chills set in, the narrative hilariously flips as five friends appear with wide-eyed, exaggeratedly scared expressions. The teaser concludes with the chilling image of a ghostly hand with sharp fingernails creeping toward the terrified group, perfectly blending horror elements with humour. The tagline “Get Ready to Die... Laughing!” captures the unique mood of the film.
Technical Brilliance Behind the Screen
Backing the storyline is a strong technical team. Shamsheer, who also co-wrote the script, has penned the dialogues with witty flair, while Yogesh Gowda brings visual richness through cinematography. The editing is handled by Ujwal Chandra, and the film’s musical atmosphere is crafted by Girish Hothur, whose score aims to balance eerie undertones with comic timing.
The set and production design, managed by Radhika Achuth Rao, enhances the horror-comedy vibe. Detailed art direction by Devi Prakash Shetty, combined with Swaroop Bhat’s VFX and Ravi Hiremath’s SFX and sound mixing, promises a visually immersive experience that will amplify both the scares and the laughs.
A 2025 Theatrical Treat
Produced by B. Venkateshwara Rao under the Srujana Productions banner, Bhootham Praytham is firmly positioned as one of the most awaited horror-comedies of 2025. With its quirky cast, laugh-worthy dialogues, spooky premise, and strong technical backing, the film aims to strike the perfect balance of fear and fun.
As anticipation builds, audiences can look forward to a rollercoaster ride of thrills and laughter, making Bhootham Praytham a unique cinematic treat for fans of both horror and comedy this upcoming year.
