Upon learning about an AI-produced joyful conclusion for his film Raanjhanaa, Aanand L. Rai was furious. The filmmaker had just revealed how the original conclusion had affected his audience when he discovered that AI had intervened to alter the ending in anticipation of the film's rerelease on August 1, 2025. He didn't like this. The producers have since responded to the same.

The producers of Raanjhanaa answer whether the film has an AI-generated happy conclusion.

With the aid of artificial intelligence, Raanjhanaa's conclusion was modified to have a cheerful conclusion, which angered Anand L. Rai. After learning about the interference with his work, he even threatened legal action. The producers have done the same. These producers said, according to Screen, that they are "using AI to present a respectful creative reinterpretation of original." It is still unclear if that points toward a happy conclusion. The new print is said to be purchased by Upswing Entertainment, a Tamil Nadu distributor. The filmmakers are testing new waters, according to Aanand L. Rai.

With the aid of AI, Anand L. Rai discovered the modification to the conclusion and was left enraged.

In a previous interview with the site, Aanand L. Rai had asked how producers might interfere with emotions. "It's a tragedy. That's an emotion. How can you meddle with emotions? The voice of the film lies in that ending," the filmmaker had stated, adding, "Next thing we know, they may change the climax of Sholay (1975) by keeping both Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra) alive."

The conclusion of Raanjhanaa is clarified.

In the conclusion of Raanjhanaa, Dhanush's Kundan and Sonam Kapoor's Zoya are both aware that he would be murdered, yet Kundan attends the rally that Abhay Deol's Akram Zaidye organizes. Zoya weeps for Kundan as he is shot and struggles for his life. At that point, Kundan has to choose between waking up and defending himself or giving up and attempting again in his next life cycle. He selects the second option. The audience was moved by this moment, in which Kundan ultimately gave up but still wanted to seek for his real love, just as Zoya did in his subsequent life cycle.
